About Julia: Born and lived in London until I moved to Dorset On becoming Governor of Guys Marsh Prison near Shaftesbury in 2008. Married with 3 cats !
Career History: Worked in a number of London local authority Housing Departments , primarily in leasehold management whilst sitting as a magistrate , which gave me an interest in Criminal Justice. Joining the Prison Service in 1998 originally as a junior Governor, I worked at a range of prisons and managed an immigration removal centre. I retired, early , as Governor of HMP Holloway , when the prison closed in 2016 . I was honoured to receive a CBE for services to prisons.
Hobbies and interests: I am a volunteer board member of the Prison Reform Trust, Liberty Kitchen ( a social enterprise working in HMP Pentonville ) and Step Together Volunteering . I walk dogs for the Cinnamon Trust and love to travel, eat and drink !
Julia Says: I was delighted to join the EBHT board , having been a board member at King Alfred Housing Trust when it transferred, and hope my experience in leasehold management and working with people from disadvantaged backgrounds supports the great work of the EBHT team.
