Tears of sadness become tears of joy
Bournemouth Daily Echo recently reported on the callous theft from Shaftesbury Court, home for the disabled in Bournemouth. East Boro staff who work at the home started an online appeal which reached far and wide, including a kind donation of £100 from a Poole man, now living in New Zealand.
The fundraising was closed by staff when it reached its goal of £1250. Tesco kindly donated a 55inch Smart TV and seven year old Rosie Hanna donated her Wii. The staff have been overwhelmed by the generosity of the public who have also donated their unwanted DVD’s and CD’s. The local Rotary Club have offered their assistance in the future and when Waitrose where told that the fundraising goal had been reached, they provided cakes for a Queens 90th Birthday Celebration instead. The Resource Centre had not been used since the robbery, but the Queens Birthday Party brought residents back into the room, which was the aim of the celebration.
East Boro staff and all of the residents are so grateful for all of the donations. Everyone tearfully agreed that " ...words cannot express our gratitude!"
