Titanic Surpise for Residents

FILM fans were in for a big surprise when they held a Titanic night in Weymouth.

East Boro service users living at Orchard Court not only watched the blockbuster movie, they also got to meet one of its stars.

Support worker Harald Lankisch was an extra in the film and featured in scenes alongside Kate Winslet, Leonardo DiCaprio and Billy Zane.

He gave a talk about how the movie was made and also revealed a few behind the scenes secrets.

“I was living in Mexico at the time where a lot of the filming was done’” Harald explained. “I studied film and video production and was working filming weddings and doing other production projects

“I was interested in the filming side of Titanic and managed to help out behind the scenes. Director James Cameron then put out an appeal for extras and I was chosen as one of the ship’s engine room crew.

“When our East Boro service users chose Titanic for their movie night I was delighted to help out and give a talk about how the film was made.

“Everyone really enjoyed the evening although I think they were far more interested in Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio than they were in me!”

East Boro service user Amy Parker described the movie night as ‘amazing’.

She added: “Titanic is one of my favourite films”, she added. “I had no idea Harald was in it so it was an amazing surprise.

“He told us all about how it was made and the millions of dollars they spent on it. He even told us a few secrets about the big stars as well.

“It was an amazing night and we would like to thank East Boro and Harald for putting the event on.”
